What is the Life Planning (Mentoring)/Family Matters class all about?

       
Each year thousands of graduating seniors enter the world of work without really feeling sure about the direction they have chose for a career.  DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!!!  The Life Planning(Mentoring)/Family Matters class will prepare you to deal with family responsibilities as well as allow you to explore career options from the actual work site.  Mentorships provide an opportunity for you to interact with individuals in your area of interest.  This year the class meets first semester during C-Block.  For 6 weeks, Tuesday through Friday, you are permitted to leave the school campus at 10:45-12:56 to explore a career of your choice by working with a mentor in the community.  This may be the perfect opportunity to "seal the deal" on your career choice.  See Mrs. Strait for further details or ask the following mentoring students:

   

Celeste Smith working with Mr. Bennett in the Logan Elm Art Dept.  Celeste is very interested in art and photography. Jessica Lowe with county auditor, Melissa Betz. Jessica is mentoring at the Pickaway County Auditors Office where she learns many skills.
   
Nicole Sours working with mentor, Terri Frazier (Circleville Water and Sewage Department.) Nicole enjoys applying her mathematics/computer skills.
 
Sierra Hurst with her mentor, Mona Hardbarger (Lewis Cook Insurance and Tax Services), learning how to file taxes.
   
Sierra Hurst is really enjoying her mentorship experience in Mr. King’s third grade class at Washington Elementary. Due to this experience, Sierra is thinking about pursuing a career in education. Stacey Arnett is mentoring in the Berger Hospital radiology department. One of the many radiologists is showing Stacey how to use one of the x-ray making machines.
   
Craig Puckett is mentoring at the Physical Therapy department in Berger Hospital. One of Craig’s mentors, Rob Snow is showing him how to use an ultrasound machine. Lacie Weaver is mentoring in the Pharmacy at Berger Hospital. Her mentor, Mark is showing her a few forms and she is also preparing containers to be used in the processing of prescriptions.
   
Hilary Lawless is pursuing her interest in becoming a dental hygienist by mentoring at the dental office of Drs.Shaw, Ely and Associates. Keith Kendrick is with his mentors Craig and Chuck Wellman of Wellman Funeral Home. Keith is very interested in a career as a funeral director.
   
Brock Sells is mentoring at Star Time Video where he is learning the importance of doing inventory and operating a cash register. Jessica Lowe and her mentor Mindy are sitting in one the bedrooms at the Berger Hospital Sleep center. Jessica has learned about sleep disorders and how they affect health.
   

 Michelle Schechter is shown here with her mentor, Dr. Iskra, a pediatrician located in Ashville. Michelle has learned many things about children’s health and is looking forward to a career in nursing.
